The Greater Midwest Poolplayers Association will be directing the 2nd Annual Southwest Amateur Pocket Billiard Championships at Bull Shooters Bar and Grill located at 3337 W. Peoria Ave., Phoenix, Arizona on Nov. 4th-7th 2010. $10,000 will be added to the event’s purse (based on full fields) by the host location. Over $40,000 will be awarded in the 23 events played on 44 tables.
Thursday kicks off open 9-Ball with separate ladies and men’s divisions. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 & 7, feature a Bar Banks event, various 8-ball singles events. Saturday afternoon features a One Pocket event plus a "no entry fee" sportsman’s division where players that were unfortunate to end 0-2 or 1-2, will vie for a piece of $500. Saturday evening Scotch Doubles (Jack and Jill), will play.
Sunday, 5 more events start with 3 Lucasi All American 8-Ball Tour events for ladies and men as well as two junior events, 19 and under players plus 14 and under players.
All play will be by the World Poolplayers Association’s Standardized rules on 7’ bar boxes, 8’ bar tables, and 9’ regulation tables. A dress code will be in effect for all participants and professional referees will be on hand.
9- Ball Lucasi Tour fees are $45 per event.
New this year are Men’s and Ladies’ Senior Divisions 8 & 9- ball at $45. Fees for the other events are; Scotch Doubles - $40 per team, Gold and Silver singles 8-Ball divisions - $60, Platinum 8-Ball division - $80. Other new divisions are Bar Banks and ‘2&2’ 8-Ball/9-Ball events that can be entered at $50. Youth and Young adults divisions are $20. All divisions except the Youth divisions have a $10 registration and $10 table play included in the fee. All prize entry monies will be paid out at 100% and all added money paid according to the size of the field entered.
There will be cue giveaways, billiard supplies, and food and drink specials throughout Saturday night. A band and suds mixer will be on Saturday night and a special fund raiser for breast cancer research will be held.
From ESPN, 8-time World Champion, Nick Varner, will be on hand for challenge matches, trick shots demonstrations, and autographs.
All players must have a minimum of 4 weeks of play in an amateur league system sanctioned by APA, ACS, BCAPL, VNEA, TAP, UPA, and recognized independent leagues. No professionals ranked by WPA, AZ Billiards, or the WPBA will be allowed.
